History
A whisky-fuelled discussion in an old garage in downtown Oslo, was the spark that led to the creation of Dundas Footwear. Surrounded by Alfa Romeos from the 60`s, the discussion obviously started with the term "quality" and gradually degraded into how everything was better in the old days. Which of course it was not. But some things were, and one such item that none of us could get our hands on, was a pair of good, rugged leather boots of impeccable quality and craftsmanship, not just lookalikes produced in the far east.
The following search resulted in next to nothing, except for a few American-made working boots, which are great when all you do is shuffle around in the workshop, but lacks real pedigree when you have a hill to climb. Being Norwegian/Scottish half-breed means we always have a hill to climb, so the next logical step (pun intended) was to make a shoe that does both shufflin`and hillclimbing well, and do so in style.

Our search eventually led us to a small factory in northern England, where bench-made boots has been manufactured for over 100 years. Their vast experience combined with our specifications resulted in the Type 01, a boot which combines top quality leathers with great craftsmanship, a tried & true last and a shape that never goes out of style.

Dundas Footwear was established to produce quality footwear of the highest order, but also to utilize the knowledge and experience that still exist in Europe. As more and more factories are closed down or moved to more cost-effective countries, the knowledge and tools for making products by traditional methods are dwindling.
The Dundas clan name was chosen not only because it is Liam's old family name, but because it represent hundreds of years of continuous history under the clan motto "Essayez", or "Try". The Dundas tartan is used in the heel straps on our boots, as a reminder of Dundas`great history, and to remind us to always try our best.
True quality is a result of a long and painstaking process, not just the PR-drivel called "perceived quality">
True quality is the customers reward for paying for a product that is made with pride, from the tannery to the workshop.>
Our reward is seeing a happy customer that wears his boots with pride.
A pair of Dundas is the beginning of a long friendship.
